A few days ago a friend sent me a link about this new game called “The Blood of Dawnwalker” and it seems very interesting. Not only does it look cool but the project is from the director of The Witcher 3. But we don’t know a lot about it yet.

What do we know about The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Release Date
Unknown but probably no sooner then 2026.
Supernatural Dark Fantasy
The game seems to take place in a dark fantasy world and it has vampires. I’ve been waiting forever for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 because I enjoyed the first one so much. But they seem to be having problems developing it and I’m not sure if its ever going to come out at this point. Maybe this will fill in that gap.
Elder Scroll Levels of Freedom
They are calling the game a “Narrative sandbox”. Quests can branch and twist into different directions and you can “kill off a lot of NPCs, and a lot of them can be really important NPCS.”
This kind of reminds me of Elder Scrolls and I like that idea a lot. Since it seems we are also never going to get another Elder Scrolls game haha.
Platforms
PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. I have not seen anything about Linux or even the Steam Deck. But its using Unreal Engine so there is no reason a Linux version could not be compiled if they wanted to.
Story and Setting
The game takes place in AD 1347 in a fictional world. You play as Coen who ends up as part vampire. By bite or birth or some other method I don’t know yet. But it seems he can come out during the day? I guess that’s were the title Dawnwalker comes from. Based on X comments it looks like Coen has 30 days and 30 nights in the game to save his family. But there is no hard time limit game play wise so you don’t have to rush. Completing quest is what moves the clock forward.

There seems to be a plague going on and It looks like the leader of the vampires is an ancient vampire named Brencie. Other vampires in the trailer are Xanthe, Ambrus, and Bakir. Based on their intro on the Dawnwalker X account i’m guessing they are the bad guys. They are vampires after all. But they save the girl in the trailer. So maybe its not so black and white. Something I would expect from the developers who worked on Witcher 3.
There is also this line from their website that says “Other creatures of the night follow their lead. Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same”. That makes me think there is going to be a lot more super natural things going on then just vampires.
Other then that we don’t really know a lot about the story so I don’t want to speculate too much.
The Developer Team
The Director of The Witcher 3 and some of its developers left CD Projekt Red and are working on this project. I can see the Witcher 3 influences in the trailer and that makes me think this could be a good game.
The Blood of Dawnwalker Trailer and my Reaction
Update 6/21/2025: Gameplay Overview
The directional parry combat system in the game play video seems interesting. I also think its interesting how the play style changes depending on if its night or day. It looks like it could be a lot of fun.
Will it be Woke?
This is the part I worry about the most. I try not too get too excited about games nowadays because of this. But I’m hoping things are changing and video games are dropping DEI and wokeism. The developers are from The Witcher 3 and I don’t remember that stuff in that game. So for now I’m waiting to see and hoping for the best.
