Windows 11 Snap Layouts

I have to use Windows 11 at work. Its annoying and it has so many issues. And one annoying issue I had was with snap layouts.

Every time I go to drag a window a drop down will show up on the top of my screen and if I get too close to it then it takes over and moves all my windows. I can see how some people might like this but when I’m moving a window I know were I want it to go. So for me it ends up wasting a bunch of time. I tried to ignore it for a while and today I had enough so I decided to look into how to disable it.

The main issue was I did not know what this drop down bar was called so I was not sure how to search for it. Turns out it goes by snap windows or snap layouts.

How to turn off snap layouts

Surprisingly its easy to turn off. I was expecting some kind of power user tweaking but its just a switch.

Go to System > Multitasking and look for “Snap Windows”. Then just turn it off.

That is all there is too it. I don’t like Windows but I will give credit were its due and they made this easy to fix for me so I’m thankful for that. But maybe next time they can make it more clear what its called or how to turn it off.
