Finally an AI with privacy in mind! When I played with ChatGPT and other AI’s I have always wondered how much of my information they are keeping. But Brave has come to the privacy rescues once again with Leo!

Leo’s Privacy
Leo is a privacy respecting AI assistant designed with privacy as a priority. All request are anonymization so they can not be linked back to the user. Responses are discarded after they’re generated. So their not stored or used for model training.
Also my favorite part is you don’t need an account to use it!
File Support
Leo also has document support. If you open a file like a PDF in Brave Leo can also help with it and answer questions about it. They say it also works with Google Drive files but as you know I don’t use Google for anything so I have not tested that.
Github support and other file types are coming soon as well they say.
Can Brave’s Leo Code?
Yes it can write some computer code but it is limited in its ability in this area. For now anyway. I used ChatGPT to help me learn how to use a new programming language before so I hope one day Leo will be able to do this. Maybe once the Github support is added that will open the door for that.
Subscription
There is a $15 a month subscription to use the more advance language models without rate limits. They use unlinkable tokens that validate your subscription so even when signed in you should still have the privacy benefits.
I have not used this yet so I can’t comment on it. I just dropped down to the free version when I hit my rate limit.
Update 7-12-2024: Now that I found good private offline AI with Ollama I don’t think I will ever need to use this subscription.
Final thoughts
I like Leo so far. It’s not as powerful as other models but its new and I think it will get better. I’m also willing to sacrifice some ability in order to have more privacy. So in my opinion it’s a win. I look forward to see how Leo advances.
