Having news and information delivered to your inbox is a great way to stay in the loop on what is going on. Most people use Google alerts for this. But I have been on a mission for a few years now to remove Google from my life. So sometime last year I started looking for a Google alerts alternative. That’s when I found Talkwalker Alerts. Another big tech alternative to add to the list.
Talkwalker Alerts

Talkwalker Alerts is a free alternative to Google alerts that I have been using for about 6 months and I like it a lot. Before finding them I was even considering programming my own web crawler for alerts haha.
If you go directly to the Talkwalker website it looks like a paid service. Instead, you want to go to https://www.talkwalker.com/alerts then type in a keyword for an alert you want, and set up a free account.
Managing alerts
Once you have an account you can make more alerts and manage them.
It looks something like this:

Then depending on your settings you will get alerts as they find stuff or ones a day.
I have been trying to learn the Godot Engine so I made an alert for that. Here is what it looks like in my e-mail.

Stay in the know
These alerts are the main way I keep up with cybersecurity news so I know what to watch out for. I also add upcoming games or anything else I want to keep track of. It’s very handy.
It’s also one more tie with Google I have cut. So that’s a bonus for me.
Do you know of another alert service?
If you’re using or found something else I would love to hear about it in the comments below so I can try it out.
