I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Fallout 76 Wastelanders update. My first review of 76 was negative. But I already owned the game after all so it did not cost anything to try the update. In short Fallout 76 is much better then it was when it came out.

Fallout 76 Feels more like a Fallout game now
The world feels more alive and less boring now. You could say the game feels like a real Fallout game now. Real NPCs with personality add a lot to the game. The truth is Fallout 76 should have been released like this.
I am enjoying Fallout 76 Wastelanders

It is still not at the level of the older offline Fallout games but I think playing with friends in co-opt makes up for that. When I first played the game I was alone and bored to tears. But with a few friends and now NPCs it is not a bad experience.
I even got to launch my first nuke!
Bugs
There are still bugs. Even bad ones sometimes. Like how NPCs would steal your rare legendary items off your body when you die. That is fixed now.
I lost all the atoms I earned when I switched to the new Steam client. That was annoying.
Vendors had to be disabled shutting down the in-game economy for over a week to fix some bug.
There was also a hand full of other things but nothing game stopping. At least I do not feel like a beta tester anymore. I am also sure there will be new bugs. That is the Fallout 76 way after all. 😉
Buy Fallout 76?
I am not sure about this yet. I mean I am having fun with my friends but if I knew everything I knew now and I did not own it then would I buy it?
My rule of thumb is games that push micro-transactions should not also be sold at normal prices. I have no problem with a free to play game with micro-transactions. I don’t like micro-transactions but I can understand the logic of that one. But a lot of people got Fallout 76 for $60 at launch on top of them pushing micro-transactions.
So sure buy the game if you have friends to play with. Otherwise, your money may be better off somewhere else.
