I have not liked Electronic Arts for a long time. Their history of buying and ruining studios, insane micro transactions, and awful DRM is why I stop buying any game connected to EA years ago. So in my opinion EA is already at rock bottom. That’s why when I heard about EA being sold I starting thinking maybe this is a good thing. When your at the bottom you can only go up.

Some History I Remember
I guess I first notice EA as more then a passing name when they acquired Mythic Entertainment. I was a heavy player of Dark Age of Camelot back then. I remember the hype and how it was suppose to be this really good thing. Well Mythic Entertainment no longer exist. This has happen to many other studios too.
I also remember in 2013 the always online DRM for a game called Sim City. On release the DRM server kept crashing so players could not even play their offline game.
But i think the final straw for me was there aggressive micro transactions. I even wrote about how in Star Wars Battlefront 2 you had to spend an extra $2100 to unlock everything in the game on top of buying the game for $60.
EA has also gone woke in recent years. Another strike against them.
A Reset for EA?
So maybe under new ownership things will change. Like I said at the beginning they can’t get worse in my eyes. Maybe things will change for the better? I don’t know but I look forward to seeing what happens. For better or worse EA does own a lot of IPs and it would be nice if those games got the love and care they deserve. So for that reason I wish them good luck!
