PlayStation Classic

Almost 25 years ago Sony introduced the original PlayStation and this morning I heard the news that Sony is going to release a PlayStation Classic! They will be following in the footsteps of the Nintendo Classic and the Sega Genesis Classic. The PlayStation was far ahead of the original Nintendo and Sega Genesis so to date this will be the most advance classic release of a console.

The console will come with 20 games built in. It even comes with Final Fantasy VII!

PlayStation Classic Console Info

The Classic modle will be 45% smaller then the original and it looks just like the original.

I am also glad to see a wired controller on this classic console and it looks like it comes with 2 of them. The IR controllers on my Sega Genesis Classic lag and you have to have the controller pointing at the console. So there is no option of resting your hands down or anything like that.

I also hear the console will come with an HDMI cable.

The PlayStation Classic will not come with a power cable for some reason. The fine print says “A compatible USB AC adaptor (not included) is required to use this console. Use an AC adaptor that supports 5 V, 1.0 A USB (Type A) output“.

Release date

The Sony blog says the PlayStation Classic will be available on December 3, 2018 and will cost $99.99. So maybe this will make a good Christmas gift. Assuming they do not sell out right away.

You can preorder from Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Gamestop, or Amazon.
