Last Christmas when I was recording my son opening presents I realized how bad my old canon camera was at recording video. It is good with images but no matter what I did its videos were always fuzzy. So, it was at that time that I decided I wanted to get a good video camera. My son is now 3 years old and I could not be happier with the videos I am getting with my GoPro Hero Session.

No Optical Zoom
The one thing that almost stopped me from getting a GoPro was the lack of optical zoom. I felt like that would be a nice feature to have. After spending a lot of time thinking about it I decided that 90% of the time I would not need it. I am not videoing sports or anything like that yet so I am always in good range. The few times zoom would have been nice turned out not to be that big of a deal because the video is so clear.
Waterproof
The fact that the GoPro Hero Session was waterproof is what eventually led me to get one over something with an optical zoom. The best decision I ever made! When we went to the beach I was able to take the GoPro right into the water with me. I even let my 3-year-old shoot some videos while we played in the water.
GoPro Accessories
Because the GoPro is so popular there are tons of Accessories. The official ones are expensive but you can find some less expensive options out there that work fine. I got this 50-in-1 Accessory Kit and I use stuff from it every time I use my GoPro. To be honest I am not even sure what some of it is for. But I use the yellow float all the time as a handle.
Crystal Clear Video
The video is so much better than my old camera. I did notice that in low light the video gets fuzzy but any camera is going to suffer from that. Also if you have a slow SD card the video quality will suffer. But as long as you have good lighting and a lest a class 10 SD card then the videos rock!
GoPro Phone App
The other thing that made me go with the GoPro was the phone app. I was concerned that I would not be able to see what I was taking a video off. Then a friend told me you can use their smartphone app as a viewer. The GoPro can be set to run a little wi-fi access point that the phone app connects to. Ones The phone app is connected you can see what the camera can see and control the camera from the phone. The downside is this can drain the battery of the phone and GoPro faster. But I have not had too much of a problem with this. The one thing I did learn is if you do not turn the wi-fi off on the GoPro it will drain the battery overnight.
