The 6 Infinity Stones

With the release of the Avengers: Infinity War trailer I wanted to go over what we know about the Infinity stones and what we might be able to expect from the Infinity War in the Marvel cinematic universe.

Infinity Stones

Marvel has been dropping hints leading to the Infinity War since 2011 with the Thor movie. And as more movies came out we were shown more and more stones. The Infinity War comic books were some of the best selling comics of all time so it is not a surprise that they would want to adapt that story to the cinematic universe.

What are Infinity Stones?

The Infinity stones are immensely powerful artifacts tied to different aspects of the universe. It is believed that the Infinity gems were ones part of a primordial entity of infinite power known as Nemesis. But Nemesis got lonely being the sole being in all of existence. So it put an end to itself. The remains of its power formed into the infinity gems and the Multiverse. If someone manages to possess them all they basically become a god with omnipotence and omniscience.

Here are the six Infinity gems and what kind of powers they possess.

The Space Stone

Tesseract
Also known as the Tesseract. The space stone allows the user to manipulate the laws of physics regarding space and distances. Such as teleporting themselves or anything else anywhere in the universe with no limits in distance. It also seems to be a source of infinite energy.

This stone was first seen at the end of Thor.

The Mind Stone

Mind Stone
The mind stone gives the user psychic abilities like telepathy, telekinesis, and mind reading. In the Marvel cinematic universe, this was first seen in Loki’s Scepter and later in Vision’s forehead.

This stone was first seen in The Avengers but we did not know it was a Infinity stone until Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The Reality Stone

Aether

Also known as the Aether. The reality stone allows the user to change or alter reality how they see fit. Such as resurrecting the dead, creating alternate realities or changing the rules and logic that governor our reality.

This stone was first seen in Thor: The Dark World.

The Power Stone

Power Stone
The power stone gives the user access to all the energy and power in the universe. Such as giving the user unlimited stamina and strength. It can also be used to boost the power of the other infinity stones and be used as an unlimited power supply for any machine.

This stone was first seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Time Stone

Time StoneAlso known as the Eye of Agamotto. The time stone gives the user complete control over the past, present and the future. Using this power, the user is able to predict the future and time travel. It can also be used as a weapon by trapping enemies in unending loops of time.

This stone was first seen in Doctor Strange.

The Soul Stone

The soul stone can be used to steal, control, manipulate, and alter living and dead souls. It can also trap souls inside itself in a pocket universe called idyllic. Then the user of the soul gem can access the memories and skills of those imprisoned within the stone.

This stone has not been seen yet in the Marvel cinematic universe that we know of.

But one theory is it is in the possession of Adam Warlock. We saw what looks like his cocoon at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

There is also speculation that Heimdall has the stone. The reason why people think this is because he has a small orange object on his armour and his eyes our orange. Unlike anyone else in Asgard.

He also has the power to see trillions of souls all across the nine realms. Another unique thing that separates him from everyone else in Asgard. So maybe he is getting his power from the soul stone.
